Introducing children and families to a lifestyle of service.

Hands Across Atlanta is a local effort feeding our homeless community in the metro Atlanta area. They host monthly public meals, inviting volunteers to come share and serve food.  They post their events and activities solely on facebook, search for Hands Across Atlanta.
Natural disasters can be devastating to a community, often leaving destruction and displacement for months afterwards. Hurricane Irma hit the Florida coast hard. Convoy of Hope is an organization that provides disaster relief and they were stationed in northern Florida helping residents with cleanup, food and water. We volunteered over Fall Break and drove down to Florida to help with cleanup. Convoy of Hope dispatches volunteers all over the world. Interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities? Morehouse Senior Student Council developed a year-long youth mentorship program to introduce college to local Middle and High school students.  A group of 15 students meet monthly at Morehouse where a different campus group will lead an afternoon session on various college-related topics.  This program provides young students the opportunity to be on a college campus and learn about life and academics in a positive and student-centered atmosphere.

It's On The House, Wed. November 14, 2012

It's On The House, a student-initiative to address homeless and hunger in the Atlanta area, is an annual Thanksgiving dinner event.  Morehouse students organized and hosted a sit down dinner open to the homeless community surrounding the college campus.  Volunteers from Morehouse, Spelman, Clark University, and Hop, Skip & Serve youth volunteers,  served over 300 meals with drinks and dessert.   Complimentary haircuts, photos, and clothes also offered.  This was the 5th annual dinner and everyone involved enjoyed an evening of serving, sharing, and community building.
